EPA Lead RRP Certification

Required for paid work that disturbs painted surfaces in pre-1978 homes or child-occupied facilities.

Who needs it

Only if demolition/cleanup or remodel work disturbs paint in pre-1978 target housing or child-occupied facilities.

Steps to get it

  1. 1 Apply to EPA for firm certification.
  2. 2 Have at least one person complete the 8-hour Certified Renovator course.
  3. 3 Use lead-safe work practices on all covered jobs.
  4. 4 Renew firm and renovator certifications every 5 years.

TSCA Sec. 402/406; 40 CFR Part 745 Subpart E. Requires both an EPA-certified firm and a Certified Renovator.
