Who needs it

Whoever performs welding/fabrication for hire. Not legally required, but a recognized quality credential.

Steps to get it

  1. 1 Choose the code/position (e.g., D1.1) that matches your fabrication work.
  2. 2 Schedule a test at an AWS Accredited Test Facility.
  3. 3 Weld and pass the test coupon.
  4. 4 Keep it valid by submitting the maintenance form every 6 months.
